The
mortise and tenon joint is used to join two members perpendicularly. The tenon,
a rectangular or square projection from the end of one member, fits snugly into
the mortise cut in the second member. Variations on this joint have to do
primarily with how far the tenon extends through the second member, and whether
dowels or wedges are used to further strengthen the joint. |
